Everybody's Got To Be Somewhere 18/12/11

Man of paint and poetry, Gary Goodman has been putting on these somewhat ace afternoons of spoken word, performance art and music, known as Everybody's Got To Be Somewhere for some time now with co-curators Ben Graham and Anthony Murphy though the present format has now come to an end. As Gary put it on Facebook, "We wanted to end it while it was still the strongest, most eclectic show in town. We brought you (well Ben did) the legendary Mick Farren, we hosted a benefit for the prominent and important Jeff Keen, and raised his profile too, the genius Wolf Howard, Jeff Sheppard's last ever English poetry reading (twice!)... we've had comedy, performance, live and recorded music, demonstrations, cyber interviews, film, short stories and, of course, fantastic poetry."
Myself and Al Strachan hopped up on the Albert stage on this the final EGTBS to do a few Lectern songs - Billennia, Slow Down and Hallucinate (a Happy Christmas) - and to enjoy some of Brighton's great performing wordsmiths, Quint, Jimmy McGee, Tim Leopard, Alice Walker, Jeff Sheppard, Dan Belton, Lisa Jayne and Ben Graham - though I did miss one or two, being as I was with me kids.

Our little set was extra sweet as my 3 year old, Mary and 7 year old, Jude sat up on stage as we played and Jude jingled some sleigh bells to the Christmas song. Unfortunately I used a dodgy lead and so my electric piano started disappearing from the mix at intervals. These things happen however, such is life.
So au revoir, Everybody's Got To Be Somewhere and hopefully see you all again Somewhere Else.
